Choose a routine that fits your program’s size.
Cache County has different kinds of early-learning settings. Little Dragons Preschool describes a home-based preschool in Logan. Little Wonders Learning Centers describes centers in Logan and Nibley offering child care, preschool, and school-age programs.
Those are examples of local program variety, not evidence that either provider needs new software or uses SolvoRoster. An independent program should evaluate the attendance work it actually has: greeting families, keeping separate child records, handling exceptions, and producing the reports it needs.
Start by writing down who records an arrival, who confirms a departure, and who reviews the record later. A clear division of responsibility is useful whether you have one staff handoff or several.
A daily checklist that stays small.
At arrival: record the children entering care.
A family scans its card and selects the children arriving. Staff complete the welcome and handoff, then check that the recorded attendance matches the children present.
During the day: handle the exceptions.
A forgotten card or early pickup should have a procedure staff can follow. SolvoRoster provides manual attendance actions and a currently-present roster for reviewing the recorded status.
At closing: resolve an incomplete record.
If a child is still marked present, first confirm what happened. Use the correction tools to record a missed punch with a reason rather than guessing a departure time.
Decide what is worth changing.
For a program in Logan, North Logan, Nibley, or elsewhere in Cache County, the useful comparison is your current process against a demonstrated alternative. Bring a sample of your existing attendance sheet or report with personal details removed.
- Count the steps staff take to find a previous arrival or departure.
- Try a family with two children attending on different days.
- Review a correction and the explanation left for the director.
- Compare the report output with what your program needs to retain.
- Include the kiosk device, internet access, staff training, and subscription in the decision.
SolvoRoster offers attendance history, print views, and CSV exports. The demo should help you judge whether those capabilities justify a change for your program; time savings depend on your current routine.
Cache County resources for independent providers.
Utah State University's Child Care Resource Agency serves Cache, Rich, and Box Elder counties and provides resources for families and providers, including guidance for starting a family child care business.
Use Utah's child care forms as a starting point for record questions. If your program accepts subsidies, review the current DWS provider guide before changing required attendance records. This page does not establish DWS approval for SolvoRoster.
Questions to work through before you switch
- Is a small preschool too small for an attendance system?
- Fit depends on the work you need to simplify, not just enrollment. Compare your current record-keeping effort, required reports, equipment, and the site-based price before deciding. Bring a normal day to the demo.
- Will families need to install an app to use the kiosk?
- The family-card kiosk workflow lets families scan a card and select their children without a parent account login. Guardian portal access is separate. Confirm your device and scanner setup during the demo.
- What if one child arrives and a sibling stays home?
- Families select the children being checked in or out. Attendance is recorded for each child individually; a family card does not mean every sibling must receive the same attendance event.
- Can another staff member cover the front desk?
- Set up the appropriate staff access and teach the same arrival and correction procedures. Staff can review the recorded roster and use manual attendance actions; a handoff still needs direct communication about the children in care.
- What happens if our internet connection goes down?
- SolvoRoster does not work offline. Decide on an interruption procedure before launch and train staff on how to reconcile any missing records when service returns.
